UTM link builder

Paste the page you want people to land on, pick a preset or fill in the tags, copy the link. Names are lowercased and spaces become hyphens so your Analytics reports stay in one piece. Your last 20 links are kept in this browser, nowhere else.

    What this tool does

Every link you put in an ad, an email, a social post or on a printed card can carry a few extra tags that tell Google Analytics where the visit came from. Without them, half of your traffic shows up as "direct" and you can’t tell whether the Facebook post or the newsletter brought the call. The builder adds those tags for you, keeps the names consistent and remembers what you made.

    Naming that stays useful

    • Source is the place: facebook, newsletter, google-business, yelp, qr.
    • Medium is the kind of channel, from a short fixed list: social, email, cpc, referral, offline. Keep the list short or your reports fragment.
    • Campaign is the thing you’re promoting, with a date if it repeats: spring-tuneup-2026, move-out-cleaning-oct.
    • Lowercase, hyphens, no spaces. The checkbox does it for you.

    How to use it

    1. Paste the landing page URL.
    2. Click a preset or type the source, medium and campaign.
    3. Copy the link and use it in the post, email or QR code generator. The link is saved to your history so the next one matches.

    Questions

    What are UTM parameters?

Five optional tags on the end of a link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) that tell Google Analytics where a visit came from. Without them, a click from a Facebook post, a newsletter and a QR code on a van all look like "direct" traffic.

Which three do I always need?

Source (where the link is: facebook, newsletter, google), medium (the kind of channel: social, email, cpc, qr) and campaign (what you are promoting: spring-tuneup-2026). Term and content are for ads and A/B tests.

Why does the tool lowercase everything?

Analytics treats "Facebook" and "facebook" as two different sources, and your reports split in half. The builder lowercases and replaces spaces with hyphens so every link you make matches the last one.

Do I need UTMs on Google Ads links?

Usually not. With auto-tagging on, Google Ads sends a gclid and Analytics reads the campaign from it. Add UTMs only if you turned auto-tagging off or use another analytics tool.

    Where is my history stored?

In your own browser (localStorage), on this device only. Nothing is sent to us. Clear it with the button, or by clearing site data.
